I Gotch Ya

This was my first Rugby match that I attended. It is quite different from what I am use to…that being Canadian Football (and yes I mean the CFL, not soccer ). I find rugby a much faster game with no padding (ouch) and almost everything goes including, as in this photo, holding onto another player.

I must admit it is a sport that I do not fully understand, but nevertheless have the utmost respect for the athletes who seem to never tire in the blazing heat and keep getting up after being dragged, piled on and tackled.

I love this photo as it captures action on and off the field. Off the field the spectators’ looks are priceless…the male with his red sunglasses and the female with her hands up to her head.

On the field is even more exciting with the pile on for the ball when in fact it is freely standing on end.

On Her Way

The look of determination on this Shark player’s face tells it all. There is no way that anyone is going to stop her. Sure enough, she ran three-quarters of the field to score in this match at the Lime Summer Sevens Series Tournament held October 31, 2009 in South Sound Cayman Islands.

The action at the Cayman Islands’ Lime Summer Seven Rugby tournament held on October 31, 2009 was amazing. Although the skies started to cloud over as the evening approached, the weather held out and it was an enjoyable (if not hot) afternoon for spectators and players alike.

Easy Come, Easy Go

The rugby ball seems to be the most difficult ball to retain control over. Anytime you think you have it, someone tackles you, hits you, grabs it and just plains knocks it out of your hands.

The look on the Shark player’s face is priceless, especially with her left hand extend towards the ball that was only there a second a go.

Balance

This was taken in Austria, in February 2007. It was so peaceful and the weather was absolutely wonderful. Coming from Canada it was amazing that I could spend hours outside with a light coat, no gloves and not freeze. This photo was taken with my Canon 30D and 400mm lens.
