Today’s photo was taken in July 2007 when Max, our German Shepherd Dog, was approximately 6 months. We rescued Max from the Oakville Humane Society in April 2007 and he has been absolutely a perfect dog.

As the 2008 Cayman Islands Pirates Week Festival came to an end with Fireworks, so does our week long photos of the festival. For the second year in the row, the team from Red Sail Sports won the Cayman Islands Cardboard Boat Race. This year it was not even close as they got off to a commanding lead and never looked back.

As part of the 2008 Cayman Islands Pirates Festival, the children are also encouraged to dress up and compete in a costume competition. These two little girls were very cute, especially the little one who was not really sure what was happening.

This photo is of the 2008 Cayman Islands Pirates Festival Cardboard Boat Race. The winners, seen here in the far left corner of the photo on their way back, won the race for the second year in a row. Some teams such as Hadsphaltic (the one in the bottom right corner), were not so lucky. The race took place with the Jewel of the Sea and her passengers visiting Cayman Islands for the festivities.

In the 2008 Cayman Islands Cardboard boat race, a team from Japan had entered with this beautiful looking boat. Unfortunately, their boat did not do so well; as can be seen here at the starting line, it is starting to tip, even with a little help from their friends. To their credit they pulled and dragged the boat around the course.

A pirates festival just wouldn’t be a festival without a pirates costume competition. Today’s photo is from the wenches’ contest. This young lady was absolutely wonderful in playing the part.

Every November for as long as people here can remember, the Cayman Islands have hosted a Pirates Festival. As the 2009 festival is quickly approaching I thought it would be nice to devote this weeks photos to the 2008 Cayman Islands Pirates Festival.

The costumes are one of the amazing features of the festival. Today’s photo of a gentlemen who went all out…just look at those eyes!

I hoped you enjoyed the photos this week from the Cayman Islands wedding of Eric and Haydee. Today’s final photo of Eric and Haydee is one of them enjoying each others company on the balcony. I Earlier in the week I was talking about how I prefer wedding photojournalism which is an alternative approach where images are captured spontaneously to emphasize moments and emotion. This is a good example of a photo that could be staged. And we actually tried a few posed photos. However, I find the Bride and Groom just don’t relax. So I excused myself and let Haydee and Eric carryout a conversation and I went into the adjoining room. I then started to take photos of them interacting. I find, as in this photo, you can capture so much emotion when they forget the photographer is there.

This photo was taken on Haydee’s wedding day about an hour after the beach side service. She was staring into her husband’s eyes with such a peaceful, blissful look.
