Playing in the Sand

While Brigitte and I were walking to the Iron Shore to watch the Cayman sunset, I noticed this little boy playing in the sand. It was interesting watching him as he was entertaining himself with no toys; it was just him, the sand and the gentle swaying of the waves which washed away his creations and provided him with a fresh start.

A Sunset Row in a Cardboard Boat

Yes, the title is correct, what you see is a cardboard boat with three rowers. What is even more amazing, is that the cardboard boat raced on Saturday (21st November 2009) and was still going strong the next day!

The team of Man-Made finished a very respectable 3rd in the Cayman Islands Pirates Boat Race.

Tower’s South View

Trivia of the day…This is my photo blog’s 100th post!

Today’s photo is from the only window on the top floor of the Camana Bay Observation Tower with a south view.

If you look closely, off in the distance you can see Grand Cayman’s garbage dump rising from the ground (not the prettiest site to be viewing from an observation tower). In the foreground includes a rooftop swimming pool for owners and tenants of the Camana Bay condos, a parking lot structure to the right and an office building whose tenants include Ernst & Young and Cayman National. Ideal Diving Reef

As discussed yesterday, the Camana Bay Observation Tower is beautiful inside and out. I was drawn more to taking photos of the inside then I was of the outside

A Colorful New Orleans Street

A Friday night in May 2009 in New Orleans. It was my first time to New Orleans and everyone said you have to go to Bourbon Street. So I went for a four hour walk and in the process, did a lot of shopping, picture taking and saw a fair bit of the French Quarter.

Jazz on Bourbon Street

A Friday night in May 2009 in New Orleans on Bourbon Street. It was my first time to New Orleans and was walking up Bourbon Street. Every restaurant and bar had some type of music, most of was live, and of course Jazz This photo was taken in the doorway of a dimly lit restaurant with my new 24mm f/1.4L II at ISO 3200 on the 5D MKII. Noise was slightly adjusted for in Adobe’s Lightroom and a slight Levels adjustment in Photoshop.
