A Butterfly amongst the Bougainvilleas

This was taken during a walk on my lunch hour. It’s amazing the looks that you get when you are standing bent over a flower bush taking pictures in the middle of the day.

Here are the same three Plumerias flowers I posted here just over a week ago. I find it amazing how one can take the same three flowers and obtain such a different looking photo. Today’s photo was also taken on January 1, 2009 in our backyard swimming pool with natural light.

Dark Red Leaves

During a lunch hour in January 2009 I was practicing my macro shooting using the Canon 85mm f1.2L II lens and a few Kenko tubes. I find hand holding this combination to be quite tricky as the depth-of-field is very small. However, when it does work, one can get some amazing photos. I really like the dark red leaves with the depth-of-field.

The flowers in this photo are known as Plumerias. There are a couple of Plumerias bushes in our yard and they look quite something when they are in full bloom. However, I was looking for something different, and the photo you see here today are a few flowers placed in our swimming pool with the sun top left.
