This was taken during a walk on my lunch hour. It’s amazing the looks that you get when you are standing bent over a flower bush taking pictures in the middle of the day.

I find snails amazing creatures. In Canada I did not see them, but here in the Cayman Islands, they are everywhere. Photographing them can be a little tricky since they only emerge at night, while during the day they are curled up in their shells. This photo was taken on my front sidewalk. The camera was on the ground a few feet from the snail which was making its way across the sidewalk to some fresh greenery.

This shot was taken around 10:30 p.m. off the Pier in downtown George Town, Cayman Islands.

This photo was taken during one of my lunch hours in January 2009.  The little lizard was kind enough to stop and pose for me.  It was taken with my 5D Mark II, 200mm and a couple Kenko tubes.  Anyone who has been around any of these lizards now they do not let you get very close.  That poses some problems when you are trying to do a macro shot.  Accordingly, I spent quite a bit of time taking photos and moving in very slowly so he would not feel threatened.  He was getting so comfortable that he started to fall a sleep

Here are the same three Plumerias flowers I posted here just over a week ago. I find it amazing how one can take the same three flowers and obtain such a different looking photo. Today’s photo was also taken on January 1, 2009 in our backyard swimming pool with natural light.

This was taken in Austria, in February 2007. It was so peaceful and the weather was absolutely wonderful. Coming from Canada it was amazing that I could spend hours outside with a light coat, no gloves and not freeze. This photo was taken with my Canon 30D and 400mm lens.

During a lunch hour in January 2009 I was practicing my macro shooting using the Canon 85mm f1.2L II lens and a few Kenko tubes. I find hand holding this combination to be quite tricky as the depth-of-field is very small. However, when it does work, one can get some amazing photos. I really like the dark red leaves with the depth-of-field.

I was in the backyard taking pictures of the birds when I started tracking this bird from the side. It then turned and started flying away. I was fortunate to be able to frame it amongst the tree branches while still keeping it in focus.

What a great way to start a Monday by looking at the beautiful blue Caribbean ocean. This photo was taken from a catamaran at a place called Stingray city, Cayman Islands. It is an amazing place a few miles from shore where you can stand up on a soft sanding ocean floor, in a few feet of water and share the ocean with wild Stingrays. I am not kidding.

Nature is amazing. This photo was taken back in August 2008. The caterpillars then disappeared and we have not seem them until recently. While they are beautiful, they will completely destroy any and all vegetation in short order.
